Prnz 7th Birthday

Super excited for the super day..Prn had been counting days to turn 7 and finally when he did he was very very happy !

We got him his gift a week back with the condition that he could only use it on his birthday ( a bag, a frisbee and a new pair of slippers ) but he had another surprise too..a Mario car game to be played on his Wii !

Papa took a leave and we picked him up from school, bought a birthday cake and prepared for the small celebration with friends at home !

5ish his friends came over, had some games, musical chairs and nuggets and pizza !

Prñav hugges me at night and said ” Best day ever”, surely worth all the running around and effort !

Mushroom Soup, Sasha and IKEA

Prn came back with the experience of his first science test ‘Ma what happens to a toasted bread after three days in the cupboard’, ‘Nothing’ was not the reply he was happy about ‘Oh Shit!’, and he started rattling off his other queries. He seems to be taking his studies a little more seriously after his 5/10 score in Maths. Maybe it helps to go down before moving up! More preparations coming soon as the first term tests have begun!

The best part was the evening. Dropped Prn off to the dance class and he insisted Sasha to say hello to his Friend Tanvi. We waited for him to get in and both Sasha and myself strolled towards ikea for our catch up coffee. The add ones were the yum Mushroom soup , buns and the siew mais . Some chatpata gossips, stories of crushes and heartbreaks and also of the Angpao ($2)which one of her classmate tried very hard to share with her, refreshing!

Feb 2018

Its been a rollercoaster ride past two years or so, and I have been really lazy at not writing in stuff. I plan to fill in all the blanks slowly but hopefully not slow enough to take another two years!

In a nutshell, changes- pretty much many, (life still seems to be evolving)- the mighty king has an MBA degree under his belt from INSEAD, Sasha did remarkably well academically in PSLE, scored a good 256, I have taken up a Master’s Course in Education (IB), hoping to get a perspective change and hopefully better work environment, we upgraded our machine to a classy BMW, visited the holy shrine of Tirupati… quite a bit of a change looking back! And I have also turned into a homemaker, for the time being.  The girls have moved the school into an International set up. Seems overwhelming at the moment all these changes, believing it is for the better and life is beautiful to be spent worrying!

Live, Laugh, Love !!

Duet – Mo Om/ chateaux – hubby

A slow Sunday, with Sasha still recovering from her flu(yesterday she looked better than today), me struggling with my assignment 3 , Moni gone to watch Spiderman with her friend Jia Yi and hubby for a trip around Fountainbleu. The evening slightly livened up with Duet performance of Moni and Om. Made a quick biryani and salad . Sasha couldn’t eat dinner at all , started complaining of stomach pain and moni because of her braces can’t eat well. So well it was Om and the maid who enjoyed eating thoroughly!

Spiderman movie 11 Jul 2017

Movie time at Tiong bahru plaza, perfect way to spend Tuesday evening 🙂 watched Spiderman movie which was quite a good one and ended with dinner at Spize ! Hubby having fun  at Paris and we making most of his absence 🙂 . Roti prata and yummy noodles- sinful !

Sonu’s trip ( Apr 19-29 2017 )

We had been planning it for quite long and finally it did work out, we flew Sonu into Singapore. Ten days zoomed by but we managed to catch quite a few tourist spots! Tried to make sure she got a good glimpse of the life in Singapore.

Planned out Prñ’s 8 th birthday at Universal studios and had fun watching Charlie Chaplin and Steven Spielberg’s show.

6 March 2017 – PSLE talks heats up

It has been one of those days , the kind of what’s the big rush kind of days. I felt pressurised and stressed but later kind of at peace with myself and life. can give the due to the kind piano tuner and also my friend Rohini ..whom at times I turn to career advice.

The stress mainly arises from being a parent, feeling whether you are giving the best to your kids, doing the best for them , the pressure of finances , whether you are making enough..and the peace arises from the fact that every stress might actually give rise to looking for a solution which might take you to a higher level of happiness.

Thinking of moving Prisha to an international setup is actually kind of giving a big relief. I am not nagging and pushing her, and well to think of it she is actually trying quite hard. Today her question surprise me . When I picked her up from school, incidently after her science exam, she asked me ” Ma , how much would you like me to score for PSLE?” . A tough question to answer , to be honest , haven’t thought of a number yet. ( Infact i do not want to grade her anymore based on her academics, because i know she has far more potential and creativity than the system can actually examine. But had to answer that so I told her ” hmm, 235 or 240 ish, not thought of a score “. She thought for a moment and said ” Do you think I can only score as much ?”. ” Na , i think you can score 270, but I do not want you to stress too much, as long as you prepare well enough , I am fine. I have no number in my mind. I do not want you to stress too much !! ” Which I really meant . ” I want to score above 250 ” , was what she announced. Now I am really stressed , phew !

Later when she came back though , she decided on making the star wars lego set. And she spent a good 3 hrs painstakingly counting the pieces and putting it all together, brought me such joy to see her determination. love !

It also was Mo’s grade 5 piano exam ( the second time around ) and this time i couldnt make it to drop her. Hubby went during lunch time to be with her. She couldnt get out of school without a big drama though from Mrs. Siva, who threw a big scene over lack of protocol and Rhea nearly missed her exams. Surprises me how people suddenly forget that protocols are set to get things in order and not hinder progress !

Had the piano gentleman come down to tune the piano , he was quite kind and talked about how it would be good to get the kids to stick to the love of music rather than push them for exams and turn them off..i too feel that way , havent felt that for a very long time. Hope i am able to retain my common sense , seem to be getting sucked in this rat race !
